Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, has once again targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi over Manipur. Referring to the latest incident of violence in Manipur on Thursday, Rahul Gandhi said that the situation is the result of the Modi government's "divisive ideology."
The former Congress president also alleged that not only Manipur, but the entire country has now given up hope of hearing even two words of sympathy from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Rahul Gandhi, the MP from Rae Bareli, shared an image of a news report related to the Manipur violence on X and wrote in his post that Manipur has been burning for years, and today once again, 20 homes have been reduced to ashes in the flames of hatred and violence.
He said, "Despite two governments and President's Rule, the conflict has only continued to deepen. Thousands of people have lost their lives, and countless families have been devastated."
The Congress leader alleged that this is the result of a "divisive ideology" that divides people in the name of religion, caste, language, region, and identity.
Gandhi claimed that today, not only Manipur but the entire country has given up hope of hearing even two words of sympathy from the Prime Minister.
He said, "Manipur deserves better, and the only way to achieve that is by uniting India."
On Wednesday, armed militants set fire to several houses in at least two tribal villages near the India-Myanmar border in Manipur's Kamjong district, officials said.
According to officials, at around 12:30 p.m., several thatched houses in the Kuki-Zo community village of Phaimol were set on fire. The village is located about 45 kilometers northeast of Chassad Police Station, near the international border.
