Many parts of the country are expected to get relief from the heat as the monsoon is now advancing rapidly. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a strong low-pressure area over the northwest Bay of Bengal is expected to move toward northern Odisha and Chhattisgarh over the next three days.
As a result, several states in central, western, and northern India are likely to receive heavy to extremely heavy rainfall over the next four to five days. Additionally, within the next eight hours, alerts have been issued for light to heavy rainfall, strong winds of 60 to 80 km/h, and lightning at many places across 13 states, including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Haryana.
According to the weather department, the national capital Delhi is likely to experience rain and thunderstorms between July 5 and 7. The sky is expected to remain cloudy today, with light rain possible from the morning, which may lead to a drop in temperatures. A thunderstorm alert has also been issued.
The monsoon remains active in Uttar Pradesh. Rain is expected to continue across most parts of the state from July 5 to 10. Eastern Uttar Pradesh is likely to receive rainfall on July 5 and 6, while western Uttar Pradesh is expected to see rain at many places from July 5 to 7.
Widespread rainfall is likely in eastern Uttar Pradesh from July 7 to 10 and in western Uttar Pradesh from July 8 to 10. Heavy rainfall may occur in isolated places in eastern Uttar Pradesh from July 8 to 10 and in western Uttar Pradesh on July 9 and 10. Thunderstorms and lightning are also expected.
The monsoon will also remain active in Bihar. Intermittent rainfall is likely across different parts of the state from July 5 to 10. Heavy rainfall may occur at some places on July 6, 7, and 10. People have also been advised to remain alert due to the possibility of strong winds of 30 to 40 km/h, thunderstorms, and lightning between July 5 and 8.
The monsoon is fully active in Uttarakhand. According to the weather department, rainfall will continue in most areas from July 5 to 10. Very heavy rainfall may occur at isolated places on July 5, while a heavy rain alert has been issued for many areas from July 6 to 10. People have been advised to exercise caution due to the risk of landslides, waterlogging, and rising water levels in rivers and streams in hilly regions.
The monsoon will also remain active in Himachal Pradesh over the coming days. Widespread rainfall is expected across most parts of the state from July 5 to 10. A very heavy rainfall alert has been issued for July 6 and 7, while heavy rainfall may occur at many places on July 5 and again on July 8 and 9. Continuous rainfall may lead to landslides and road disruptions in hilly areas.
Monsoon activity is expected to intensify further in Rajasthan. Rainfall is likely to continue across most parts of the state from July 5 to 10. Widespread rainfall is expected in eastern Rajasthan from July 5 to 9, while many places in western Rajasthan may receive rain from July 5 to 10.
A very heavy rainfall alert has been issued for isolated places in eastern Rajasthan from July 5 to 7 and on July 9. Heavy rainfall is also expected on July 8 and 10, while some places in western Rajasthan may receive heavy rain between July 6 and 8. Thunderstorms and strong winds may also occur in several areas.
The monsoon will remain active in Jharkhand from July 5 to 8. According to the weather department, rainfall will continue across most parts of the state, with heavy rain likely at isolated places between July 5 and 7. Strong winds of 40 to 50 km/h, thunderstorms, and lightning are also expected. People have been advised to avoid standing in open areas and under trees during severe weather conditions.
