The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the Indian team for the upcoming three-match ODI series against England.
Shreyas Iyer has been named vice-captain.Jasprit Bumrah makes a return to the ODI side. Virat Kohli has been included in the squad but will have to undergo a fitness test.
Shubman Gill will lead the team as captain. Rohit Sharma is set to open the batting alongside Gill.However, Yashasvi Jaiswal, who scored a century in the third ODI against Afghanistan, has not been included in the squad.
KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan have been selected as the wicket-keepers, while Rishabh Pant has been left out.
Washington Sundar has earned the selectors' trust and made it into the team. Axar Patel has also been included. Nitish Kumar Reddy has earned a place in the 15-member squad.
Jasprit Bumrah will lead the pace attack, supported by Prasidh Krishna and Arshdeep Singh. Gurnoor Brar, who performed impressively in the ODI series against Afghanistan, has also been included.
Kuldeep Yadav is the main spinner in the squad.
The ODI series begins on 14 July with the first match at Edgbaston. The second match will be played on 16 July, and the third and final match on 19 July at Lord’s.
Additionally, the BCCI confirmed that Varun Chakravarthy has been ruled out of the T20I series against Ireland due to a foot injury. He has not fully recovered yet. However, Varun is expected to be available for the T20I series against England.
