BHUBANESWAR:Rainfall activity across Odisha is expected to decline from Tuesday as the low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal has weakened and is currently located over eastern Madhya Pradesh and adjoining areas, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The IMD has forecast a significant reduction in widespread rainfall across the state over the coming days. While isolated places may continue to receive light to moderate showers, no major rainfall event is expected in the immediate future.
However, the weather agency has indicated that a fresh cyclonic circulation is likely to form over north Odisha around July 12, which could once again enhance rainfall activity across the state.
Despite the overall easing of rainfall, the IMD has warned of intense rainfall in parts of western and interior Odisha, where the heaviest precipitation is expected.
Eight districts—Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Sonepur, Balangir, and Nuapada—have been placed under a high alert due to the possibility of extremely heavy rainfall. Authorities have advised residents in these districts to remain prepared and monitor official weather updates.
In addition, seven districts have been placed under a yellow alert for heavy rainfall at isolated locations. Residents in these areas have been urged to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions. No specific weather warnings have been issued for the remaining districts.
Officials have also advised people living near rivers, low-lying areas, and hilly regions to exercise caution and strictly follow advisories issued by the district administration to ensure their safety.
