Bhopal, Aug 25 (IANS) The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet has approved the construction and upgradation of 12 important roads under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM/HEM), marking a significant push to strengthen the state’s road network.
In addition, 22 other roads are being transferred to the Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation (MPRDC) for better execution and management.
Among the key projects is the Bhopal-Vidisha Road, approximately 44.83 km long. Another major stretch is the Khalghat-Manawar-Mangod Road, spanning about 93.11 km.
In the Mandsaur region bordering Rajasthan, the Sitamau-Basai-Suwasra Road (approximately 82 km) has also been cleared, Rakesh Singh, Cabinet minister said here after the Cabinet meeting.
The Cabinet has further approved the upgradation of the eastern Bhopal Bypass from four-lane to six-lane with paved shoulders, along with the construction of service roads. This stretch measures approximately 51.86 km.
The Neemuch-Manasa-Rampura-Jhalawar Road (also referred to as SAH), measuring 95.85 km, will similarly be developed into a four-lane highway with paved shoulders.
Other roads included in the list of 12 are the Indore-Devpalpur Road, the stretch from Chapda-Deori to Dewas, the Dara-Datia-Sevda Road, the Sarangpur Road, the Soy-Machalpur-Jirapur Road, the Rahatgarh-Khurai to Khemlasa Road, and the Sundara-Singhpur-Kothiari-Birsinghpur-Simaria-Goda-Sirmaur Road.
These projects are being taken up under the Hybrid Annuity Model, under which a portion of the construction cost is paid during the building phase and the balance is released as annuity over the concession period.
Officials indicated that this approach will help create a wider network of quality roads across the state in the coming years, the minister said.
Separately, the Cabinet has decided to transfer 22 additional roads to the Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation (MPRDC).
This move is aimed at ensuring professional project management, timely execution and long-term maintenance of the state’s expanding road infrastructure, the minister further said.
