Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has claimed that in response to Russia’s refusal to end the war, the Ukrainian army has carried out strikes inside Russia.
Zelensky said the aim of these operations is to increase pressure on Russia and force it to end the war.
According to Zelensky, the Ukrainian armed forces have successfully conducted long-range strikes on several important military and strategic targets in Russia and in Russian-occupied territories.
He stated that it is natural that the war is now returning to where it originally began. In a post on the social media platform X, President Volodymyr Zelensky wrote: “Our soldiers have achieved good results by carrying out long-range strikes on important targets located in Russia and in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.”
Zelensky said that more than 700 kilometres from our border, soldiers of the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) targeted an oil storage facility in Russia’s Yaroslavl region, which was crucial for the aggressor state’s strategic reserves.
He further claimed:“Our forces also successfully struck their targets in Russia’s Tula region, including the ‘Azot’ plant, which is extremely important for Russia’s capacity to produce explosives.”
According to Zelensky, following these attacks, flight restrictions were imposed at six Russian airports, and air raid alerts have been issued in 28 regions of Russia since yesterday evening.
He added that successful strikes were also carried out on the occupying forces’ military logistics facilities in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
Zelensky stated that in response to Russia’s refusal to end the war, Ukraine will continue its planned long-range operations and medium-range strike missions against Russia. He said:
“We gave the Russian leadership every possible opportunity and chance for negotiations, but in return, we received only continued aggression and attempts to escalate it further. Now the war is returning to where it started.”
