ANGUL: Jindal Koila Khadan & Jindal Karkhana Bishthapita Khyatigrasta Praja Mandal has demanded no mining operations and plant project activities in Utkal-C, B1 & B2 coal mines and plant project area before providing and completing statutory R&R measures.
In a memorandum submitted to the Northern Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC) the forum has demanded the authorities to sort out issues related to land compensation, forest land and other issues immediately.
Besides,they have demanded to implement the resettlement and rehabilitation measures as per Odisha R&R Policy, 2006 with LAR&R Act, 2013.
Their other demands are PLC meeting needs to be held once in a month and RPDAC meeting once in six months,circulate agenda of each meeting in Odia language, RPDAC meeting should be held in close proximity to the Project & Mines area or in the district ,to stop acute pollution due to Utkal-C coal block and stop material transportation in Badakerjang Jungle and Badakerjang village area where 400 PDF families who were yet to be resettled. About seven thousand people staying there, the villagers alleged.
State Congress Steering Committee member and forum activist Sashmita Behera said,”The affected villagers are demanding proper rehabilitation measures and compensation for years together. But the authorities thrown a deaf ear to their demand.If the JSP authorities didn’t fulfill their long-standing demands they would go for indefinite strike”.
