Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday accused the BJP-led NDA government of snatching land from poor farmers in Bihar and giving it to businessman Gautam Adani at a throwaway price of Re 1 per acre.
Addressing an election rally in Kutumba, Rahul Gandhi said, “What PM Modi has not told you is that land was snatched from poor farmers and given to Adani for a price of Re 1 per acre. Amit Shah ji had said that there is no land available in Bihar where a factory can be built. But land is available to give to Adani ji.”
He also highlighted the plight of people of Bihar engaged in labour work in several states of the country in the absence of better employment opportunities in the state. “In different parts of the country, people from Bihar are building large buildings, roads, tunnels, factories. That is to say, the truth is this—that Nitish Kumar has wiped out employment from here and turned the people of Bihar into labourers of the country,” the Congress leader charged.
He also pointed out that 90 per cent of the people from backward classes are not included in the country’s development.
“If you list the 500 largest companies in the country, you won’t find people from backward, most backward, Dalit, Mahadalit, or tribal classes in it. The people working in these companies come from 10 per cent of the population. Whether it’s the judiciary or bureaucracy, they get the positions everywhere,” he stated.
The Congress leader further claimed that if this continued, “a Hindustan will be formed where all the wealth will be in the hands of 2-3 people.”
Addressing another rally in Bihar’s Wazirganj, Rahul expressed confidence that a Mahagathbandhan government will be formed in the state. “This grand alliance government will be a government of every class, every caste, and every religion. In this government, the voice of women, farmers, laborers, youth, including the entire Bihar, will be included,” he said.
Today is the last day of campaigning for the first phase of Bihar Assembly elections scheduled to be held on November 6. The voting for the second phase will be held on November 11 and the counting of votes will take place on November 14.
