Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav took to the streets of Danapur on Monday to campaign for Ritlal Yadav, RJD MLA and INDIA Alliance candidate from the Danapur assembly constituency. Ritlal is currently in jail in connection with multiple criminal cases, including murder charges.
During the roadshow, Divya Gautam, the INDIA Alliance candidate from Digha, was also present alongside Lalu Yadav.
As soon as news spread that Lalu Yadav was on the road, large crowds gathered, showing tremendous eagerness to catch a glimpse of him. However, due to health issues, Lalu greeted supporters from inside a stationary vehicle.
This marks the first time Lalu has appeared publicly for election campaigning in this assembly poll.
Lalu has often spoken publicly about Tejashwi Yadav becoming Chief Minister. During the roadshow, he reiterated that on 14 November, the government would change and Tejashwi would assume the post of Chief Minister.
He said, “This time the results will be very bright. The INDIA Alliance will win, and the BJP will be wiped out.”
Earlier, taking a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he wrote on ‘X’, he said, “Young Tejashwi, through his dignity, politeness, patience, conduct, public engagement, and thorough understanding of ground-level issues, has not only compelled the elderly Prime Minister, who speaks in a language of hate, to follow his agenda but also forced the NDA and BJP leaders to copy Tejashwi’s announcements, welfare schemes, and even his vocabulary. This fear is a good sign.”
